The Ankh in the Dust It was one of those dog days of August when everything slowed down. The air was thick and humid with the aftermath of thunderstorms that had swept the small town just weeks earlier. Billows of Oklahoma dust washed across the rusty metal frame of the playground, taking up the absence of the children. The tire swing by the Babson Creek idled lazily in the wind. Dogs lay about, panting in the heat. Clouds drifted sluggishly over the suburban town baking in the light of the mid-morning sun.
